About

Pleased to meet you,

Welcome to QuaggalyQuaggaly. From horses to zebras this blog attempts to be a liberal forum for all things biochemistry.

hope you can

I hope other med students find refuge in this blog just like I did. This blog hopes to rekindle that raw, almost primal passion you have for the subject, the one that you started out with, the one that got duller and dimmer somewhere in between the sleepless nights and stressful exams. As much as I took up medicine to help people, sometimes I just want to explore medicine selfishly, just for the sake of exploring medicine. The subjects are so innately interesting yet, the icing is so pretty, it almost made me forget the cake.

guess

A lot of blogposts contain my understanding or what I think is the probable cause of a particular occurrence. Feel free to make your own guesses and express your views in the comment section. I would love to hear your contemplations, thought process and approach to the topic. Feedback, rants or even just saying ‘hello’ would be greatly appreciated.

my name.

The name QuaggalyQuaggaly is in the context of the following quote:

When you hear hoofbeats, think horses not zebras.

In the context of clinical practice this quote means that it is likely the patient has the more common diagnosis (horse) than a rare, improbable one (zebra). A quagga is an extinct animal that looks half like a horse and half like a zebra. So thinking Quaggaquagga-lyly is thinking wildly, thinking of the common, the rare and everything in between!
